Proactive Access LLC was founded by Cory Cabral, CASp #630. After attending San Diego State University, he began his career at his family’s sign business where he specialized in accessible signage. While working with clients in the sign industry, he realized that more and more of his customers were ordering the tactile and braille signs as a condition of settling an ADA lawsuit. He recognized that many of the business owners who were defendants in disability access litigation were not actively seeking to discriminate against people with disabilities. They were simply unaware of the requirements of compliance or they falsely assumed that their facilities were “grandfathered”. In either case, these businesses could have avoided legal action if only they had an experienced resource to guide them on the path to compliance.

Once he understood that businesses could benefit from a consultant with an expertise in the field of disability access, he set out to educate himself about the subject. He soon discovered that the State of California had recently started the Certified Access Specialist Program. He immersed himself in disability access education and became certified as a CASp Inspector in 2015.

Since becoming a CASp consultant and expert in the field, he has helped thousands of businesses and property owners understand the importance of accessibility compliance. He has assisted owners with creating reasonable barrier removal strategies while helping them avoid litigation with special legal benefits granted by the State of California.
